Feed back from top sailors around the world has allowed us to progress further in our sail designs than we ever could working on our own. Listening to their needs and suggestions has allowed us to fine tune and improve our already successful designs. Some have asked us to factor in for more stable high end performance gains, while others have asked us to go even lighter in our sail construction searching for that hidden X factor in performance and speed in all wind ranges. The end result of all this is that now you the customer have a range of sail choices to cover your every need.

A
new design Jib for the IOM class over the last year or so (2004 2005) seems to be faster than all before it, available in all weights and types of material this new design was especially formulated for our super light mylar racing sails but has now been incorporated into almost all class jib designs. We built it fuller and moved the draft forward so you can race in and hold your boat in that sweet spot much easier than a flat or draft aft  jib will allow.

Blackmagick sail testing and design experiments are on going.

If you sail in light airs often perhaps a light weight mylar mainsail could help as it allows more accurate setting of the jib-mainsail slot, as any backwinding from the jib is quickly noticed in the mainsail luff. New seam placement on all mainsails has allowed the skipper to set more leech twist if desired and still maintain good drive. Leech twist helps in quick speed build up after tacking and also allows greater diversity of sail area by allowing sails to be carried into higher wind strengths. They allow better sailing characteristics in choppy conditions, also allowing you to carry a slightly fuller mainsail in the top section which then gives you better light air sailing speed. All-in-all a major improvement.
