The Kiwi Boats

By far the most prolific designer of R/C 1metre type yachts in NZ is Martin Firebrace. More experienced R/C sailors may know of Martin through his earlier 2Dogs & 3Dogs designs. Martin always seems to have something on the go, the above picture is one of his latest creations, a design call the Ericca which is so new it is not yet in production. The above example of this design is owned by Peter Spence of the UK who has recently sailed the yacht into third place overall on the British national league standings. The last time I checked (early 2000)  he was even ahead of world champ. Graham Bantock! Peter is a yachting correspondent for the british magazine Yachts and Yachting and no mean sailor of the larger type of yachts.  As I have said else where, there are no easy wins in R/C racing.
