In conditions ranging from top of A rig, to very light, 11 boats from the three Auckland clubs that sail the IOM class had a good days racing, cut short in the end by heavy rain. However It was disappointing to see only one boat from the North Shore Club? I'll post the club points situation later when I have more time but as of now I can tell you that NMMS has the lead overall.

Worst kept secret in Auckland R/C yachting, yes I have taken delivery of a new Ian Vickers V6. Even though I have been sailing it on and off for a few months now, it has taken me that long to sort it out. Very sensitive boat to sail and tune and takes a while to come to grips with. Results of above regatta suggest I now have it sorted. This boat does require more sail setting changes for the various wind conditions than previous designs I have sailed. Below are few pics of hull for those that have not seen the new Vickers design up close yet.
Hull is very fine forward note the almost cutting edge running from the bow too some distance aft.
In contrast the aft sections are flat, central sections are quite square and tight. Hull is 220mm wide. Cockpit floor is cut deep to allow rig to sit low in the boat, a very important feature for performance at the top end of each rig.
