| A heat of the 2006 NZ IOM Champs, yacht 63, Blackmagick Sail's Skipper Alec Newald's V5, holds the inside line to the windward mark on a well judged lay line and rounds first. Over laying the top mark can cost you many places in top class racing as the two other IOM's find out here. The advantaged gained here was enough to allow NZL 63 to go on and win the race. You can tack long off the start line but tack shorter as you approch the top mark, to help judge the correct lay line |
